Bladder Cancer is a cancer that is commonly found in men aged 50 years.

It is cause by the abnormally rapid growth of the inner lining. Which develops into cancer. Although it can detecte in the early stages, there is a risk of it coming back. 

Causes of bladder cancer

The exact cause still unknown, but these factors may increase your risk of developing the disease.

  • Smoking is the most important risk factor. Because carcinogens in cigarette smoke are excreted in the urine and come into direct contact with the lining of the bladder. 
  • The disease is more likely to occur in males than females. 
  • Increasing age 
  • Found a family member with a history of having this disease before.
  • Chronic irritation, bladder infection , or chronic cystitis
  • Use of chemotherapy and history of pelvic radiation treatment

What are the symptoms of bladder cancer?

  • Pain in the lower back
  • Blood in the urine may be bright red or blood-like in color, and is usually painless.
  • Frequent urination , urinary incontinence
  • Urinary incontinence, burning sensation during urination

Types of bladder cancer

Transitional Cell Carcinoma (TCC)

This is the most common type, starting in the cells lining the inside of the bladder wall and may spread to the fat cells around the bladder.

Squamous Cell Carcinoma

This type of cancer is often cause by chronic inflammation or irritation of the bladder wall. It can occur in people with chronic cystitis. 

Stages of bladder cancer

  • Early stage: Cancer cells found in wall.
  • Stage 1: The cancer has spread deep into wall.
  • Stage 2: It has spread to the bladder muscle area.
  • Stage 3: The cancer has spread to other tissues and may have spread to the reproductive system.
  • Stage 4: The cancer has spread to the abdominal wall and pelvis, and may spread to lymph nodes and other organs in the body.
