Diagnosis of allergic conjunctivitis

First, the doctor will ask about the patient’s symptoms and duration of the disease, including the family history of allergies. The doctor will then start to diagnose the patient’s eyes from the outside, whether there is swelling, redness, or if there is a foreign object in the eye. Other methods include:

  • Using an ophthalmoscope
  • Conjunctival swabs are used to test for allergic responses in white blood cells.
  • Blood tests to check for antibodies and protein-producing substances.
